Front Porch and New Entry Addition
A common issue with older craftsman style homes is a lack of a good entry and mudroom. The homeowners of this house have two young children and are both very active outdoor enthusiasts...which means they have a lot of coats, boots, and equipment that did not have a proper home. The other issue with the original entry is circulation took away from any defined gathering area. We added a 100 SF mudroom and large closet as well as a room-sized front porch. Redirecting the circulation allowed a larger sitting area around the fireplace. Skylights in both the porch and mudroom flood the rooms with light. The heated tile floor in the mudroom is now a favorite spot for Ozzie (their dog) as well as the kids.
